For ONE NIGHT ONLY, in Chisolm's Restaurant, Caves House, an indulgent, 7 course degustation menu will shine the spotlight on truffles. The menu will include such temptations as Truffle Egg Ozen Saffron Linguini and Cured Sage Pork Belly on Black Truffle Risotto. The dinner cost will include carefully selected wines, chosen to complement each course. (The bar will also be open.) During dinner, Col and Sue Roberts, owners of Lowes Mount Truffiere, will enlighted us about the magic of truffles.

Truffles are a delicacy, highly prized for their flavor, aroma and their ability to intensify the flavours of other foods. Perigord Black Truffles are traditionally grown in the Perigord region of France, but in the snowy reaches of Oberon, they are produced by Lowes Mount Truffiere, a small family business. The popularity of last year's ‘Truffle Dinner' at Jenolan inspired Lowes Mount Truffiere to work with us again this year.

As well as a lavish dinner, have a unique weekend escape - experience tours of spectacular caves, or a haunting concert by master of the cello, Georg Mertens, deep underground.  

Also, on August 21, you can participate in a most unusual activity - an authentic truffle hunt. Like buried treasure, truffles are hunted amongst the roots of oak and hazelnut trees. In Australia, specially trained dogs are used to sniff them out. In Oberon, truffles are hunted in winter.   To participate in the Truffle Hunt, please ask our reception staff about adding it to your dinner, bed and breakfast package.
